Non Make/Model Specific Car Groups
I come from MANY years of running and participating in scion only car clubs. Being in one of these groups specific to your car is great for not only learning the most you can about your car but seeing all the possibilities you have when it comes to modding your vehicle. The problem though is this often fosters hate towards other groups of car enthusiasts usually for no reason at all besides being different from what your used too. And it is these cliques that form at events such as car shows that hinders the car community as a whole from coming together and progressing the culture.
I myself have been doing my best to branch out and talk to many new people who I normally wouldn’t. I’ve made many new friends and realized you can learn a lot about what others are doing with their own cars that can be applied to your own. Groups like Rice Killers Club are great for bringing in large groups of diverse cars and equally diverse drivers. But there are still many cliques and a lot of drama. One group who I have been hanging out with lately is MN Garage Geeks at their Weekly sonic meets in Bloomington. This group has always been very fun with minimum drama. Even though we all have different tastes, we are all unified by our common love of cars in general. We understand that a person can have different tastes than you but that does not mean you can’t appreciate the amount of time or effort they have put in regardless. I wish this ideology was shared by more people!
This will be my first blog entry and I’m not sure how much I will use this or if any I make will always be car related or not but I hope this entry will get around and hopefully help to change others minds also!
Have a great day.
